Pennine Lancashire Squared Town Square
Weaver’s Triangle, Burnley
The design proposes an ‘activity starter’ that aims to unearth (literally) the future regeneration potential of the site, and potentially other sites in the Weavers Triangle conservation area.
It creates a stop-off on the way into or out of the town centre (along Sandygate) making it easy for people to alight between Sandygate and the canal.
The design creates a sheltered hollow in which differently sized terraces support use at a range of different scales, from micro-uses to festivals.
Crucially, the design also proposes a high quality refurbishment of the Neptune Inn, within the capital costs of the project, creating a new social enterprise centre (detailed later) that drives use and public involvement in the regeneration of Weaver’s Triangle.
